5 Things to Know Before Visiting Kennett Square

An insiders perspective on our historic town.

We eat other food besides mushrooms

It’s true. Kennett Square is the mushroom capital of the world. Mushroom dishes can be found on menus, purchased at local markets, and yes, even possibly smelled in the air. Growing mushrooms is important to our local agricultural industry. Don’t worry if you don’t eat mushrooms though! We are fortunate to have so many amazing local restaurants that specialize in Asian, Mexican, Italian, French and American cuisine that the non-mushroom lover will be truly excited about. Some of our downtown favorites include Lily’s Asian, La Verona, Michaocana Grille, and Y’or So Sweet, all located in downtown Kennett Square.

It will be easy for you to get caffeinated

Need a jolt to get going in the morning? Philter Coffee highlights Ceremony Coffee Roasters coffees in a variety of single-origin and blended coffees. Their pour-over method will provide you with an exceptionally smooth, fresh cup of coffee, or enjoy their drip blend that changes regularly. Their café is truly adorable, with creative food offerings, local artist’s works on the walls and cozy seating perfect for people watching.

Talula’s Table is another downtown option, offering La Colombe coffees at their coffee bar and a farmhouse table for communal seating. We can’t say enough good things about their sconces that are offered each morning.

We like our wine and beer

Local folks like their coffee, but they also like their wine and beer. Kennett Brewing Company is the newest brewery on the scene in Kennett Square. This craft brewery offers eight beers on tap on a daily basis, and their upscale-pub menu will delight young and the less-young alike.

Paradocx Winery's official location is in nearby Landenberg, PA, but they have a tasting room in downtown Kennett Square, located in the Market at Liberty Place. Other fun, artisan beer and wine locations to check out on your visit include Victory Beer, Va La Vineyards and Galer Estates.

Longwood Gardens MUST be on your to-do list

With the opening of the newly renovated fountains in May, 2017, Longwood Gardens is a must-see destination. With close to one millions visitors each year, they continually impress guests with their ever-changing exhibits and seasonal displays.
