Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Yes, advance registration and ticket purchase are required for each tour. Do we only walk around and sample food?
Food samples are an important part of our tours but they would not be complete without learning about the uniqueness of Kennett Square's history and culture through our guided walking tour. In addition, you will have the opportunity to talk with chefs and watch cooking demonstrations.
How often are tours held?
Tours are currently offered Sunday afternoons beginning at 1pm from May through November.
Can I get a refund or reschedule my tour?
Tickets are non-refundable and can only be used for the date and time you selected.
What types of places will we visit and what kind of food will we be eating?
You will visit restaurants, markets, a specialty food shop, a winery and a brewery that are locally owned by proud members and supporters of our community. Many, if not all, of the chefs and artisans that you will meet are working hard to source their ingredients locally. We leave it up to the chefs at each restaurant to decide what the group will be sampling. The tour includes a mix of both savory and sweet tastings as well as wine and beer tastings from local establishments. There is an Asian restaurant included on the tour, but there will not be any raw sushi served -- everything will be fully cooked. Finally, Kennett Square is the Mushroom Capital of the World, so you can expect a dish or two to be prepared with mushrooms, but don't worry -- if you don't prefer mushrooms, you will not leave hungry!
How much food is served on the tour?
You will receive seven food tastings, one wine tasting and one beer tasting over a three-hour period. Tours and appetites vary but most people will feel comfortably full at the conclusion of the tour.
What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate any dietary restrictions at this time. If you have specific questions, please email us at email@example.com.
Are any beverages served on the tour?
Water is served at most of the restaurants and wine and beer are served at two locations. Tour participants will be required to show appropriate identification to enjoy alcohol on the tour.
Can I bring children on the tour?
Children are welcome! If they will be eating on the tour, it will be necessary to purchase a ticket for them. This tour involves approximately three hours of walking and sitting and may not be suitable for all ages.
How many people will be on the tour?
The tour accepts a maximum of sixteen people.
I live locally. Does the tour offer anything for me?
Absolutely!! Many of our participants are local residents, often accompanied by out-of-town guests. Tours are a terrific opportunity to showcase our home to visitors, and possibly experience a restaurant you have not tried yet yourself!
How much walking is involved?
The tour strolls at a leisurly pace, and includes approximately one mile of walking. Please note that not all of the establishments are handicap accessible. Please contact us for specific questions.
Can I shop on the tour?
Because the restaurants expect us at certain times, shopping can only be done prior to or at the conclusion of the tour. The merchants will be very happy to see you!
What about gratuities for our tour guide?
Gratuities are appreciated, although not mandatory.
Are bathrooms available during the tours?
Bathrooms are available throughout the tour.
